Hi people, I was just doing some research for SMP and this popped up. I was kind of irritated coz this has nothing to do woth our SMP project but then I remembered that we have to do a bio blog too so I am now posting it here.
Have you ever heard of the Grapefruit Diet plan? Well, it’s becoming increasingly popular among females these days. So this is the diet:
The Grapefruit Diet Menu
Whenever ‘grapefruit’ is mentioned below, the dieter has the choice of eating 1/2 a grapefruit or drinking 8 ounces of unsweetened grapefruit juice.
Breakfast: grapefruit + 2 eggs prepared any way you choose + 2 slices of bacon
Lunch: grapefruit + salad with the dressing of your choice + all the meat you want
Dinner: grapefruit + salad with the dressing of your choice OR a red or green veggie prepared with butter/spices + meat or fish + 1 cup of coffee or tea
Bedtime Snack: 1 cup of skimmed milk
Grapefruit is a super food for dieters as it has abilities to recharge metabolism while supplting a nutritional boost. Grapefruits are rich in Vitamin C and pink grapefruit also contain beta-carotene which reduces cholesterol levels and helps to build a healthy heart. But is this boost really nutrirional? This diet promises a loss of 10 pounds in a dozen days without getting starved. And supposedly, grapefruit enhances the fat-burning process. So does exercise, which can be done quite easily, and which by the way, is part of this diet.
The frapefruit diet is a very frustrating and restrictive diet and it deprives the body of calcium, iron and other vitamins. It is not recommended for people suffereing from any illness and can affect health is it lasts for too long. This is obviously not a long term solution for cutting down on calories, so next time you try to survive on grapefruit the whole day, think about all the other nutrients you are depriving your body of.
